I’m excited to share that Avanlee Care has raised $3.5 million in new funding, bringing our total funding to $6 million since our first round of investment in 2021.

The round was led by BEA Venture Fund, with continued support from Esther Dyson, Chrysalis Ventures, FairBridge VC, and other investors who have believed in what we’re building. I’m so grateful for their support and for the team that has worked so hard to get us here.

This funding will help us expand our work with Medicare Advantage plans and healthcare organizations. After years of building our technology, developing partnerships, and learning from families, we’re getting ready to scale.

Why We Started Avanlee Care

I was 10 years old when I first experienced family caregiving after my grandfather’s Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s diagnoses. Watching my mom, grandmother, and other members of our family try to manage his care and seeing the financial and emotional strain, doctor’s appointments, medications, and everything that came with caring for him stayed with me into adulthood.

I started my career in healthcare working in sales at Forcura, where I learned about the industry, particularly the challenges around document management, communication between providers, and the gaps in care coordination. I saw how disconnected healthcare systems were and how difficult it could be for providers to share information and coordinate care. Family caregivers managing unpaid care at home were often completely left out of the process.

Today, 63 million Americans work unpaid as family caregivers, according to AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving. According to a 2025 study published in Health Affairs Scholar, more than 155 million American adults expect to take on caregiving responsibilities in the future, and one in four adults reported providing care within the past year.

When my cofounder and I started Avanlee Care, we wanted to help bring family caregivers into the healthcare system and give them the tools, information, and support they need to care for someone they love. Avanlee Care started as a consumer app for families, and over the last several years, we’ve built it into a technology platform that works directly with health plans and healthcare organizations to connect them with the family caregivers supporting their members and patients. Avanlee Care’s beginnings as a consumer app gave us valuable insights into what caregivers need and are looking for in a support platform. Through our successes and challenges in building the original Avanlee app, we learned so much about how to better serve caregivers and help them succeed. Since 2023, we’ve integrated with Walmart’s commerce APIs and Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company to help caregivers order groceries, health and wellness products, and more affordable prescription medications, and continue to offer this in the app.

Improving Outcomes with Health Plans

We’re now focused on Medicare Advantage, where health plans are working to improve member engagement, close gaps in care, and improve health outcomes. These plans know when a member is overdue for an annual wellness visit, needs a vaccination, or hasn’t filled a prescription, but finding the person who makes those things happen can be challenging.

Our role is connecting caregivers to the healthcare system so they have better resources, while teaching health plans how caregivers can help members access care and follow through with their treatment plans. This can help improve preventive care, medication adherence, chronic condition management, and the quality measures that contribute to Star Ratings for Medicare Advantage Plans. By connecting caregivers with health plans and providers, Avanlee Care can help address barriers to care and give healthcare organizations a better understanding of what’s happening between appointments.

We’re also working to expand how Avanlee Care works with health plans, primary care providers, pharmacies, and home health teams. As we integrate Avanlee Care into their value-based care models, we can help connect family caregivers with the primary care providers, pharmacies, and home health teams caring for their loved ones.

Our platform helps healthcare organizations engage family caregivers, address barriers to care, and support the coordination of appointments, medications, and ongoing care needs. By connecting caregivers with the healthcare organizations responsible for their loved ones’ care, we can help improve access to services, support care plan follow-through, and provide better visibility into what happens outside of clinical settings.

This funding will help us expand our work with Medicare Advantage plans, scale what we’ve already built, build more integrations with health plans, healthcare providers, and pharmacies, and grow our engineering and customer success teams as we support more caregivers and their families.

I’m incredibly grateful to our investors, our board, our team, and the families who have supported and trusted us along the way.

After years of hard work, I’m excited to see what comes next.
